Kalaripayattu is the oldest, traditional martial art. Unique contribution of ancient Kerala and as old as Indian history itself. It endorses human body with easier flexibility and quick movement as the whole body become concentrated. The legend says that the Sage Parasurama after reclaiming Kerala from the Arabian Sea with his mystic power 108 different deities and introduced this martial art known as Kalaripayattu. It is divided in to different ways.

Maipayattu
Consists of the basic exercise and provides the perfect coordination between the mind and bod, it is a series of body movements and flexibility in human body.Kolthari( Method of fighting with wood weapons)
Various kinds of sticks and wooden weapons are used for these fighting techniques.
Angathari
Different kind of metal weapons( Sword and Shield, Spear, dagger. Long sword(Urumi) etc. are used for this fighting techniques.
Verum Kai(Empty hand)
The purpose is self defense and complete subjugation of opponent who attacks with or with out weopens
Marma Prayoga
In Ayurveda there is a specialized system called Panchakarma(Method of treatment ). This is further classified various sub divisions as uzhichil, pizhichil. Dhara, kizhi, Nasyam and vasthi.
Above mentioned ways are in Marma prayaga are supposed to cure the fundamental causes of illness lying dormant in the human body. It has done either to improve general health or to cure any particular disease.It is practiced by the leading experts of Kalaripattu.
